Raid setup with different drives?

Has anyone used a raid array (striped) with different brand of HD's. I was wondering if I could use a 8O gb WD and Maxtor, 7200 rpm with 8mb cache. I am sure it could be done, but not sure how stable is would be. If anyone has any experience, or a knows a web link that woud be great.

It has always been suggested, and is good practice, to use two identical drives in a RAID setup. There could be issues with the drives if they have different seek and access times, platter size, etc.
