raid setup problems

two machines: soyo dragon kt400 ultra and asus p4c800. one is highpoint ide, the other promisesata, win2k both.

problem: both machines were set up with single harddrives and raid arrays added later, but raid drivers installed at initial install. both machines see the drives, and build the arrays in their respective raid setup screens. but once rebooted, i can not find the new array anywhere. it doesn't find new hardware, doesn't seem to recognize the new array, and therefore i can not find a way to format the new drive. both machines show the raid controllers as being properly configured in cp/system/hardware.

anyone got a suggestion?

right click my computer and choose manage go to disk managment and you will find it if it is there it prob just needs to be initialized and formatted

you sir are a gentleman and a scholar and i am in your debt... boat questions? i'm your guy. and once again, despite thinking it couldn't happen, i learned something new! happy weekend. zz

and if you don't mind, let me run by you a long standing problem i've had with one of these machines, raid-wise. the soyo, with two 40g deskstars, always shows the first drive at ata100, while it always shows the second drive as ata33. it does not matter what i do, swap the drives, swap the cables, fool with the jumpers (both set as masters), whichever drive, regardless of cable or setting, that is plugged into ide3 is ata100, and ide4 is ata33. this problem (if it indeed is one) did not change when i went from an abit kg7r to this soyo board, it did the same with the abit. both have current bios and hpt drivers. i've posted this before in the past, and not had anyone come up with an answer. got any thoughts? thanks zz
