RAID set-up question

For RAID set-up, is it necessary to have three hard drives of the same make, say in RAID 5? Or Can I set up RAID 5 with 1 74GB Raptor, and 2 250GB HD? What about other RAID configurations?

Thanks in advance.

Technically speaking, you could configure a RAID five with those drives, but you would be limited to 3*74GB of space, not 74+250+250. Your best bet would be to get another 250, and then run boot off of the 74gb, sell it, or something else.
Tas.

Thanks Tas.

Another quick question. I already have a Western Digital 7200 RPM 250GB IDE HD. Is it possible to connect that to a SATA 150 HD in Raid 0?

Much appreciated.

Unless I'm mistaken, mixing SATA and PATA raid is not possible, but then again, I've never tried it.
