I'm getting the Asus Nforce2 delux with a XP2700, would it make a big differance if I add on a raid controler for raid 0? Or would it not be worth the extra $?

Unless you work with large files, implementing a raid0 setup will cost a lot more than what you actually gain in performance.

??? Are you talking about cost as in price or performance? It looks like he already has a matching pair of WD 40GB HDD's, so no cash outlay there. Raid cards (software) can be had inexpensively, the Koutech I/O Magic based on the Silicon Image controller (same maker of the A7N8X SATA controller) can be had for $34 shipped from Newegg. I actually have it sitting next to me unopened, ordered from Newegg but picked up an Adaptec 1200A from CompUSA for $50.

As for actual real world performance I just went to a RAID 0 array with 2 120GB 8MB Maxtor Ultras and its been great. XP loads much faster, encoding/decoding/ripping is much quicker, and games load faster as well.
