Raid Question

Right now i have an Abit KR7A-Raid, and i have a 30 gb hard drive on IDE 1, and a DVD rom on IDE2.... I bought raid bc in a month or two i will be getting another hard drive and a cdwriter... anyway, since i only have 1 hard drive and 1 dvd player would i get any advantage by using my raid controller?
 
Nope.
Btw. When you buy your second drive make sure it is of the same size, preferably exactly the same model.
 
Not preferrably, make sure it's the same model too. The other harddrive in the equation will only work as fast as it's counterpart. It's simply no logical to put drives that work at different speeds into a RAID array.
