just wondering about the possibilities of this...

I've got 4 drives, 2 15K rpm and 2 10k rpm. I *need* 4x15k, but they're on order and not going to get here for a few days.

think it'd work if I built two boxes with 1x15K and 1x10K drive each (RAID1), and then swapped out the 10k for a 15k rpm drive at a later date? or would it be forever capped at 10k rpm once the original raid gets built?
 
^ basically. Once the data is passed to the drives it's up to the IDE to sort the writing out; a slower drive will probably just use its cache a little more. Nothing to worry about.
