I just purchased 2 250GB WD hard drives, and already copied the data over, I was just wondering if I setup a RAID array now will I lose the data that is on the drive?

Everything is on 1 drive and the other is clean. I searched and couldn't find the answer so I though I'd start a new thread. All help is appreciated. Thanks!

Some controllers can set up a RAID1 nondestructively. Generally, though, setting up a RAID array requires formatting the drives involved. I would consult the documentation for your drive controller.

So what raid ? 0 or 1 ? That makes a difference also. You ALLWAYS loose all the data for raid 0, but not allways for raid 1.

Be careful. In the SCSI realm, Initialise means bye bye data.

If you have even the SLIGHTEST uncertainty of whether the integrity of your drive's contents may be compromised, DO A FULL BACKUP ALWAYS!
