Hi

Iv heard many talk about disk failures and data loss, but Ive never heard a discussion regarding controller failure and data ... ??? well thats what I was wondering about, what happens to the data if the controller dies
anyone went through this ?

please let me know

Thank you
Dan

P.S. also any opinions on HighPoint ide raid controllers ?

Don't know about the data loss (if any) from a controller going bad but to answer your question regarding Highpoint Raid controllers.

I have had one for over 4 years and it has performed flawlessly.

Sorry, made a mistake. The Highpoint was the chip on my Abit KR7A 133Raid board, therefor when I added the Promise Ultra100TX2 PCI IDE Controller, I had no need to purchase the Raid version.

Sorry for the confusion.

The Promise Ultra100TX2 PCI IDE Controller has been running 24/7 for four years though which is the point.

If the comtroller dies...even in RAID0 as long as an exact chip/same controller is replaced then all should be well just by hooking the Drives back up in the correct order
