Raid problem

I am runnig Raid 0
Promise ATA100 PCI Raid card
2 x Maxtor ATA100 7200prm 30g Drives

When I shut the system off for awhile and boot up I hear 1 of my drives making a screaching/squealing sound and when the Promise card boot's it tell's me the Raid array is off line
Sometimes I can just reboot and all is fine lately it has been taking 3-4-5 try's to get it to detect the raid
I Never Have a problem with a reboot just seems to be limited to a cold boot

My question is which is the most likely suspect here 1 of the drive's or the Promise card and what would be the best way of confirming this

its probably the drive-- to check, load the drive on a normal (non raid) ide channel,and see if the bios finds it on a cold boot.
