Raid Problem/Question

Hi!

I recently setup raid on my box. It's using two 20GB Seagate Barracudas. Running HDTach, the performance hasn't really increased much, if at all. Is there something special I should have configured?

It's a Promise Fasttrak 100 controller on the motherboard.

Figured it out. My stripe size was at 64kb and setting it to 8kb dramatically inmproved performance. Now I am getting the speed I'd expect from a raid configuration.
 
Larger stripe size is better for A/V files and I don't want to disappoint you but if they are Cuda IV's then there was a performance issue with them and RAID which has since been cleared up with the newer models
 
These are Barracuda I's. 🙂 I use it for software development, so not too concerned with A/V stuff. But thats good to know since my home machine does more A/V stuff.
