RAID performance of older ATA-33 drives

I have recently got hold of two second Seagate Medalist 4342 (ST32122A) drives, and for the sake of coolness I would like to hook up them up in RAID0 in my FreeBSD server box.

The specs of the drives are:

Interface: ATA-33
Capacity: 2.11 GB
Speed: 4500 rpm
Seek time: 12 ms

As I have understood it the newer IDE RAID cards are backwards compatible all the way to ATA-33, so I will probably get a Promise card from eBay or something.

Has anyone tried older IDE hard disks in RAID? I am not in it for the performance (it is more about being able to say I have RAID), but what kind of speed can I expect from this setup? Under ideal conditions, will I have the equivalent of a 9000 rpm drive?

no way. The performance will not even be equivalent to moderm 5400 rpm drives.
