Maybe it's the fact that I have never set up raid before, maybe it's because the user's manual truly is useless. Either way I can't seem to get raid 1 working on my p4c800 deluxe. I follow all of the instructions here: http://dlsvr03.asus.com/pub/ASUS/mb/sock478/P4C800/e1224_p4c800.pdf
starting on page 132. For some reason though it's not working. I have attached an IDE cable to the FastTrak controller and the connected it to both of my drives. My first drive is formatted with my OS and everything on it. My second drive is completely unformatted. I go through all of the steps blah blah and when the time comes to choose the source drive I choose the Ultra ATA drive. Then I am supposed to choose the destination drive and it will only let me choose SATA. Not having SATA this obviously will not work. Does anyone know how to get RAID1 with 2 IDE drives? What am I doing wrong?
On page 132 it says:
"Connect the HDD cables. These connection options are available for creating RAID 0 or RAID 1 array:
a) Connect two Parallel ATA HDDs to PRI_RAID1 connector and one Serial ATA HDD to either one of the two Serial ATA connectors, using separate parallel ATA or serial ATA cables.
b) Connect one Serial ATA HDD to each Serial ATA connector, using separate serial ATA cables."
That worries me, it reads like one of the drives has to be SATA; however, on page 51 it says:
"You can connect two UltraATA 133 hard disks to this connector and set up a disk array configuration."
Anyways, if any of you know it would be a huge help. I have spent so long trying to get this to work and I have called ASUS 2x and they can't seem to figure out why it's not working. According to them I can do it but we all know how much tech support usually knows. :-/ Thanks in advance. If you need anything else or any :camera:'s just ask.
