Performance wise It doesn't matter, on-board still eats up PCI Bus bandwidth, the only thing is your cables will just go to the Card instead of the mobo, and that you will be using a PCI slot, but performance wise, no diff.

what about memory. the cards have 32mb memory can be upgraded up to 128mb
