Hi have a question about RAID (striping) once you raid two western digital raptor h/drives 74 gigs, and then what would happen if after you ran a program like partion magic to partion that raid setup into two drives in other words from the one large c: drive split it in half making a d: drive ,what would happen would this defeat the perpose of raid to start with ?, or would it run just as fast ( or suposable faster)............ in a raid setup I know on a p4c800 deluxe mobo raiding two drives made te system slower when it came to using the computer for music , programs like logic , sound forge etc and the diferant plug in`s etc the system work much faster setting up the normal way. after heaps of tests we worked tha out !

and has any one tryed to raid this type of mobo from ASUS and actual Got faster performance? in a striping setup than the normal setup?

I'm running a P4C800-E with RAID-0 but with 7200 RPM SATA drives and not Raptors. Both of the original drives in the array died, though not at the same time, and both times I ran the system with the remaining drive in non-RAID mode until the replacement drives arrived. While I have never benchmarked running the system with a single drive, RAID-0 seems to improve loading times.

If you are using the original P4C800, ie, any model before the "-E" version, you only have the Promise RAID controller. The "-E" version added Intel's 82801ER RAID controller which is what I use. I've never tried the Promise controller so your mileage may vary.

Good luck!
