raid mirror question...

I am replacing a old desktop which has a SATA RAID mirror with 2 disks. I need to transfer all the data to the new computer. Rather than copy about 80gb over the network, I was wondering if I could break up the RAID mirror and temporarily setup one of the disks in the new computer? This will allow me to copy disk to disk.

The RAID controller on the old computer is a 2 channel Promise and the new computer has a Gigabyte Geforce mobo with NVidia RAID.

Thanks in advance.

Maybe.

I found that a RAID 1 IDE drive managed by a RocketRAID PCI controller would mount to a standard IDE controller and was readable. I suspect it'll depend on what RAID controller you are using.
