RAID Installation Problem under Windows XP

Ok, I'm trying to install RAID0 under Windows XP. I've copied the drivers to floppy, I boot from CD and when it says "Hit F6 to load third-party SCSI or RAID drivers" I hit F6. Nothing happens. I've tried both USB and PS2 keyboards, and the F6 doesn't register either way - setup just continues like I never hit a button. I've also tried two different Windows XP CDs. The keyboard works fine on other menus in setup and if I hit F2 when it says "Hit F2 for Automated System Recovery" that works as well, so it's only when the F6 part pops up that it doesn't work.

The motherboard is a Chaintech ZNF3-250 (nForce3-250 chipset) and the hard drives are SATA Western Digital 80GB with the 8 MB buffer.

Does anyone know why when I hit F6 in the windows setup it won't register and what I can do to install the RAID drivers?

Strange...never seen this issue before. Not sure what could cause it. Do you hit the key just once? If so, try hitting it several times quickly when that message is up. Other than that...I've no idea.

Ummmm, you know that the prompt for the actual install of the drivers occurs later in the process don't you?

It does appear that nothing happens, but a little later you will be prompted to install the disk.

I apologize if you already know this. Just making sure.

Yes I'm aware :)

I'm going to try that XP boot CD (Actually someone showed me a slightly different one that looks like it will work better, but I will try both if needed).

I'll let you know if anything ends up working.

Ok looks like the floppy drive was busted and that was causing the problem... so now I got it to load from the floppy but then when I choose the driver I get this error

File si3114r.sys not found error 512 at line 2108 at D:\xpclient\base\boot\setup\oemdisk.c

I tried this on two different versions of XP CD... any ideas?

Ok... I got the new drivers online and put em on a floppy... now that works.

It accepts the drivers, I choose the WindowsXP driver version and eveyrthing seems fine as the setup program loads all these drivers. Then it says STARTING WINDOWS and a few seconds later I get the good ol' blue screen o' death.

Any ideas if this is a hardware conflict or what is causing this? I was thinking RAM but I'm not sure.

Alrighty I took out one of the DIMMs (I had two 512 MB DIMMs in the computer) and put the remaining DIMM in slot 1, and installation starts fine.

So I'm thinking there is some conflict with either having one of the DIMMs in the slot I had it in OR the other DIMM is corrupted.

Any recommendations on the best utility to use to test this? Like I said, I'm just installing Windows now and going to worry about the rest later
