I've got a EPoX EP-9NPA+Ultra, 3000 939, 2 gigs of memory, etc.

I'm not happy with my current Seagate 200 gb drive's performance. I want a raid 0 setup. I do not want a raptor, simply will not use one.

How about 2 of these drives: http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.asp?Item=N82E16822148040

I've also heard that I might be better off with a PCI express SATA controller, something like one of these: link

The performance is not for gaming, it's just for heavy multitasking. These are plenty big in size because they are just for my boot partition/install partition.

How about just adding a second drive?

If you split the two applications you use most across the old and new drive you could get the same perofrmance as from RAID0 without the losing-it-all risk.

If you're going Raid on PCIe, I suggest you go Raid 5 with this controller.
Of course you'll have to get 3 of those drives, but you won't have the problems with a corrupted array on your boot sector that you might with on-board raid 0...

I really think I just need raid 0. Raid 5 is a little too much $$ for me but someday I wouldn't mind having it.

If you dont mind losing your data once a while when the drive dies.. then its perfectly fine..

weird, anand had a 7200.9 article on before.. it show raid 0 performance..

Data is not a concern, back that up to other drives and these drives are just for installs.
