My LanParty NFII motherboard has an onboard raid controller which is not being utilized. Can I use this onboard controller as an additional IDE controller to add a 80gb hard drive?

Not positive about onboard raid, but both my pci raid cards will handle that just fine.

Yes.

Install the drivers so the OS can mount the drive and it will be seen as a normal drive.

Cheers!

Yes and while the MoBo has both IDE RAID capabilities as well as SATA. There is only 1 SATA header and both SATA and RAID devices cannot be used at the same time on the early revisions. I believe the newer ones have SATA RAID and lost the PATA.

Thanks for the information. I am currently not using SATA since I can't afford a new drive, but one of these days I'll make the upgrade.
