RAID controller mods - possible with SCSI ???

joinT

Lifer
I know it's a simple matter to mod an IDE controller to IDE raid, wondering if the same thing is possible with a scsi controller card ??

again, thanks in advance

Almost not possible, the reason the promise IDE controller can be mode to RAID is that it's using the same controller chip, and the logical layout is the same, nothing needs changed except BIOS and maybe a few resistors(just like the Geforce and Quadro). but SCSI RAID is usually much higher performance then the IDE counterparts, and it didn't have the same design as it's regular SCSI parts. many have caching madules, and some with a dedicated IO processor (mostly i960s), basically a totally different design.

I see them, but they're all $100 + US.
I'm not looking to spend that much on a raid card for a dual ppro with 2g scsi drives.
Barefoot was selling one on e8ay (prolly gone now, it was @ $5) but I only need 50pin, & so I guess I'll scour "that site" for another one close to that price.

thanks for all the help guys
