Raid card isn't recognized!

K need some help here, i have a k7s5a pro mobo and just bought a cheap koutch raid card.. Everything seems to be working, it's recognized in the device manager, no problem, the configuration program for the card seems to be working, but it's not showing up in "my computer" or windows explorer.

Anyone have any idears on why this is happening and how i can fix it ? i have 2x 20 gig hard drives that were on a RAID 0 before, but i lost my old mobo so they've been sitting idle for months... finally got this card and put them back on RAID 0...I'm gonna fiddle around some more, hopefully someone will have an answer!

Thanks ya'll

You mean the drives ? like D drive ? (since you can boot that must be C) You have to create a partition first and format it. (use computer management/disk management)

I'm booting from the C: drive, and the other 2 hard drives are connected to the RAID card. I don't really want to format this because i have some important info on the drives... can it be something in the bios?

So, they were in RAID 0 on another card?

And when you say that "it's not showing up" - you mean the drives connected to it?
If it shows up in Device Manager, it is working fine. You might need to configure it by pressing F3 (think that's it) right after POST, when the card is detecting its drives. Speaking of which, is the card detecting the drives.

were they on the same controller before ? Than you might be able to get the data back if you create the array during boot, since it must not be present.

Before I had an onboard RAID controller on my previous mobo, had these 2 drives stripped on RAID 0... then i got a new mobo without RAID, and today I just got this card. The ccard is recognizing the drives because i can set them up on boot, (it lets me set up what type of RAID, resolve conflicts, but the options are minimal) The card comes with a utility that manages the drives, and it even recognizes the drives. The drives are recognized in device manager, and windows says the are working properly.

The problem is i can't access them. I have no "F:\" drive in explorer (or whatever letter it assigns). They're there and they seem to be working, I just can't get to them

You can't get your data back, its gone (unless you put them back on the other controller) You will have to create a partition and format it.

If you created your array on a different hardware then you can say bye bye to your info,it's gone.

Unless you can get the same mobo you will not be able to get back your info.

ugh no, thats the problem. I never back sh*t up. For the past 5-6 years i've been doing CG artwork i never backed up, and it feels like i'm starting over all the time. I should have a huge gallery of work but i keep losing it...grr

so upset right now its not even funny 🙁

You do have a shot at it, if you can find the exact same chipset or mobo. Maybe you can find the mobo cheap... (not ebay, just looked)

i guess i'll post a WTB in for sale/ trade forum.. maybe someone has one lying around.

Did you set up the array on the new drives, or just plug them in? If you set up the array, the stuff that was there is gone. If not, you might be able to put the HDs back in the other controller and get it back.
Either way, never trust your data to stay intact when changing key parts, especially in RAID.
Backup, backup, backup.
