Raid card in video pci-x slot

I have an Asus a8n-sli board with an opteron 185 that i want to make into a home file server.

Would an 8x pci-x raid card work in the video card slots if i used a cheap pci video card?

I dont think it will work but i am asking anyways.

I believe you have PCI-E and PCI-X confused - the latter is used on workstation and server motherboards.

In any case a PCI-E raid card will work in one of the PCI-E 16x slots used for video cards.

The system is stable, lots of ram, now i just need a decent raid card.
