Generally motherboards that come with Highpoint or Promise IDE RAID ports can be used as standard IDE ports, with one caveat... No ATAPI drives. Only hard drives will work on these ports, so plug your CD-ROMS, Zip drives etc to your "regular IDE ports, and your hard drives to the IDE RAID ports.
