RAID array "unreadable"

so i have 2 western digital 160gb harddrives in raid 0 config to hold data, and i just reformatted my OS drive with a new copy of winxp. now when i boot up, the promise ata card still detects the 2 drives after post-ing, and the drives do show up in device manager. but both drives are labeled as "unreadable" under disk management, and they do not show up in "my computer".

are there any ways to recover the data from the raid drives? thanks in advance.

the 2 raid0 disks were used to hold data; the OS was on another harddrive, which i reformatted.

are you suggesting that once i reformat my OS drive, there's no way i can retrive data from my other 2 raid0 drives?

Is your controller card (a PCI Controller card) doing the raid, is it onboard raid? Or was the operating system doing the raid....?

it's a promise ultra100 tx2 pci card.

right after post, the screen shows that the card is detecting (and found) 2 harddrives, but in disk management it shows the drives as "dynamic" and "unreadable". and it doesn't appear in my computer.

i reinstalled the driver for it by booting from windows cd, F6 for scsi/raid driver, and installed from the floppy disk. but once inside windows, the 2 disks still cannot be read.

thanks for the replies =)

actually let me rephrase my question.

if i have 2 harddrives in raid0, and i want to move them from one computer to another computer, what do i need to do to on the new computer to recognize the drives and be able to read the data?

thanks
