RAID 5 for IDE?

I was wondering if first off if anyone has had any experience with RAID 5 with IDE drives. Secondly does anyone know the names of any of the cards that support RAID 5 for IDE? Thanks for any help you can be.

HERE this thing is beautiful. No I don't have one, but it is cheap about $500. Think about it 7 60gig hard drives in any old box 300gig for around $3000. Simply amazing.

If you really need RAID 5, you should look at SCSI. The problem with IDE is the limitation of cable length and the number of devices per channel.

3ware Escalade 6400. $300 or so from HyperMicro.

I've started thinking about RAID5 as well lately.

If you have even a remote concern for performance, avoid IDE RAID 5 like the plague.

Escalade 6000 has RAID 5 support already? I thought it's not ready yet.

The escalade 6000 series got a firmware upgrade in febuary.
