RAID 10

Oh, okay. Sounds good then. 🙂 In that case, of course. What size drives are you going to be using?

complete waste of money unless you are running a mission critical system/server !!

EDIT: waste of money in the respect if you are planning buying four hard drives for this

I guess people don't do anything now just to do it, and to see what happens. And it's not a complete waste of money, a) if he want to do it, and b) redundancy with near RAID 0 performance...

my potential mobo isn't going to support RAID 50, and my mobo is a sever mobo, plus, I'm going to be developing and doing a lot with hosting information, so I'm probably going to do 80GBx4.

Hmmm. I don't know how much space you are going to need, but if 160GB is going to be enough to keep you at around 40% free, then I say go for it. However, if you are going to need more than that, I'd suggest slapping a RAID controller in that server mobo and going RAID 5, so you have 240gb to work with, as well as redundancy. That would definitely be the route if you are looking for performance as well. PCI-X RAID controllers kick arse.

in that case if it is a server rig then fairplay
