Raid 1 question

Like so many current raiders, I don't NEED RAID - but I have a mobo that is capable (Soyo Dragon) and I DO need an easy way to keep data securely backed up. My life, business and 4 websites are all there.

So I thought I would go with a RAID mirror - a couple of WD800JB. I currently have my OS (2K) an a separate physical drive and a second drive partritoned; one logical drive is programs the other data.

If I mirror the programs / data drive and keep the OS where it is, I won' t have the worry that a broken OS will be instantly backed up across 2 drives. OTH the new drives will be faster than the OS drive (a 3yr old IBM 19GB) and things would prolly move faster with the OS on the 8MB cache.

I do some image editing and graphics (Corel), lots of Dreamweaver, some database work.

Thoughts/ suggestions - please.
