RAID-1 and different drives?

So I have a RAID-1 array that is 73 GB. I need to replace one of the drives but there's only a larger size available.

I should be able to use that larger drive in the array with no problem right? I hear that it will just format it to the lower size (73 GB).

Am I understanding this correctly? thanks!

In general, that is correct.

Yes, it will use the size of the smallest disk on the array and it will go the speed of the slowest disk on the array. It's best to keep them matched models, but if that's not possible, get them to match specs as closely as possible.
