RAID 0 with 15gig and 40gig hard drive?

I am new to raid. I've been researching on Google for tutorials. All tutorials mention that you should have two same hard drives. I found out that if one hard drive is smaller than the other, than raid controller will ignore the extra space on the bigger hard drive. I also found out that the total amount of storage of RAIDO 0 array is equal to the combined space of the hard drives in the array. But there is VERY little information about setting a RAID 0 array with hard drives of different size.

I have a 15gig hard drive and a 40gig hard drive. Will RAID 0 array work with this configuration? Will my total space be 30 gigs or 55gigs? Please shed some light.

Thanks!!

Most raid chip/card manufacturers suggest that you use identical drives to prevent problems. I've always set up my arrays w/ matched pairs (or "quads" in a couple of boxes).
