raid 0 vs WD VelociRaptor

okay.,,,question- there is not doubt that the WD VelociRaptor is probably the fastest single serial ata hard drive in existance, i will not arque that...but would it not be better to just buy a couple of segate 7200.11 320gb seagate barracuda, and run them in raid 0 ....you are looking at $100 vs $300..

For the "feel" of snappiness, yes.

Read/write speeds would be better with the RAID-0, but that's not going to be noticeable unless you do lots of large file movements, or during something like game installs.

Seek times matter more for general usage, straight throughput helps with level loading and such but that's about it. And on top of that you've just doubled your chance of a drive failure.

You would probably benefit more from the reduced access times of the raptor. I have a 74gb version and love it.
