Basically what the topic says. I was wondering what stipe size everybody is running for there raid-0 setup. I have 2 80GB SATA drives runnning with a 64k stripe right now. I only get an average of 47MB a sec now on HD Tach. I'm getting two raptors the end of this week and wanted some input on everybody elses experiences on raid-0 arrays.

Well for raptors, from what i heard Shuttleteam (maybe it was wingnutz) said that raptors in RAID 0 perform best with a 8kb stripe. The smallest stripe my controler will allow is 16kb (might change after BIOS update) which i'm in the process of doing, but i need a floppy drive :( and i've been too busy.

I had a 64k stripe and it performed around 130Mb/s read, and a messed up write that i'm blaming on bad drivers. I'd suggest an 8kb stripe as long as your ready for the ~15% CPU usage for HD intensive activities. Not really a big deal to me.

I'm not to worried about CPU usage. I was thinking about 16k or 32k but now ya got me thinking lower. I mainly play games on this machine as all my data is on my server. I'm mainly looking for fast booting and game loading times.

I think i'm going to go with 32k. Hopefully a good number for just general comuter use and gaming(ie. loading maps). Anybody else have any thoughts or experience in the subject?
