RAID 0 + SATA question

EyeOfThe

Senior member
I want to have 2 Seagate 160 GB SATA drives set up as RAID 0 for a gaming/mp3 machine.

This guy I know says there will be no performance gain with the RAID 0. Is he crazy?

If there will be a gain, how much %?

thanks

my understanding (and I'm still trying to learn more) is that the speed advantage is not utilized until you get a larger file, so mp3's dont really give a bonus. I would think that large movie files (700MB) would have a noticable difference.

Like you, I'm trying to get the straight info so I can make a decision on my rig.

If anybody knows anyhting about performance stats on these RAID 0 systems please let us know!

I'm curious about the differences in files sizes and file types too.

Will it be better for OS, APPs, or Media (large video).
