RAID 0 questions - partitions and imaging

I want to try using the onboard Raid 0 on my GB 8PE667. I've got two identical 40GB Maxtor 7200 rpm drives. My questions are:

Once the two drives are RAIDed, and they appear as one drive in Windows - can I then partition them into smaller logical drives? I like to have Windows and apps on the C drive, and data on the D drive, so I can re-image the C drive without losing my data.

Speaking of imaging, can I even use something like Drive Image 2002 on a RAID array, since it would be accessing the drives via DOS (essentially) to do the imaging?

Thanks for the help.

If you plan to partition them, then RAID is NOT for you..

When you RAID 2 drives together, and then partitioning, it actually LOWERS your performance to even slower than a single drive.
So if you were to raid it, do not partition them.

Thanks for the reply - OK, no partitioning (although logically I can't understand why it would affect the performance, but I'll take your word for it).

What about the imaging? Can I still back up the whole RAID array using something like Drive Image 2002?
