RAID 0... questions about performance & imaging drive c:/

Setting up the drives in raid 0 & loading the raid driver for winxp, are no problem to do at all, very easy & straight foward.
So no need to explain how to set up RAID 0.
Just looking to get some performance questions answered. 😎

What "kind" of performance increases will i see as opposed to just using the two drives seperate?
What i mean is...
Will my OS load faster?
Will all my apps load faster?
Or will i only see a performance increase when copying files?

Also
Any forseeable problems creating/restoring images of my my OS (c:/ drive) with Power Quest Drive image on a raid 0 setup?

This system will be used as mainly a gaming rig.
Heres how it will be setup.

Drive c: Winxp
Drive d: All wallaper, mp3's, kazaa , downloads folder etc...
drive e: Games only

I like to keep an image of a clean install of WinXp & just restore that when I "feel" im in need of a clean install.

And b4 someone points out the obvious 😉 , YES I am aware that some games & programs need to be re-installed when i restore an image of xp to drive c:. (or sometimes i just export the game's registry key , then import it into registry after clean image is done, then just make a shortcut to desktop of game's .exe file)

Ive been doing it like this for years with a single drive in 3 partitions, but never with a RAID 0 setup.

Not sure it will be worth it to run the drives in RAID 0, or am i better off just running them as 2 seperate drives?

I couldnt really care less about how fast it copies files, because i doubt my games & stuff will install quicker due to cdrom speed limitations.
And i dont copy files that often.

Im hoping to get a performance increase on the time it takes the os to load at bootup, & the time it takes my installed apps to start & any other situations where the hdd is being accessed .

If you don't transfer large files across RAID0 arrays then the performance increase will be unnoticeable. Please do a search, there are hundreds of posts asking the same question as you are. RAID0 is useless to the ordinary home user.

Thanks
Thats what i wanted to know.

BTW: Yup, know where that search button is. 😉
Turned up a million threads on different kinds of Raid setups & how to set them up & troubleshooting.

But not much info on whether or not the performance increase was noticeable other than copying large files.

Which is what you just answered for me. 😎
Thanks for the info.
