I am going to set up RAID 0 with my Soyo KT400 motherboard, the question i have is do i have to make sure that both Hard Drives are erased before I connect them & configure them for RAID or can they have data on them & I can delete the info later?
Thank you

You should format them. Raid 0 is striped, so the old data is useless. Essentially, in a RAID 0 array, each HDD only hold 1/2 of the picture, which is why all data is lost if 1 of the drives in the array fails.

I think that just creating the array in the RAID controller's setup will destroy all data on the drives anyway. The array will then be partitioned and formatted afterwards as well - once the array is created, the drives will appear as one large completely empty drive.
That said, formatting them first won't really hurt anything; it'll just take a little more time.

That's right. Also make sure that you copy the driver for your particular raid controller and operating system onto a 3 1/2" floppy first. Depending upon the age of your raid controller and version of Windows, you'll probably have to load the driver when Windows asks you for it. Otherwise Windows may not recognize your controller and array when it comes time to format and load.
