Raid 0 question

I just set up a RAID 0 array with two raptors on my ASUS A7N8X deluxe and I am just wondering if it's normal that I have a total of 70gigs showing for that drive?

I dont know much as this is my first RAID setup but I thought that it would show 36 gigs!

thanks for the infos.

That's normal. It divides the data between the two drives.

RAID 1 would copy the data to both drives and shot up at 36 gigs.

I'm pretty sure I'm right on this, but I have no first hand experience as I've never tried it.

Exactly and I have 1st hand experience 😉

Just to make sure you understand the difference between Raid 0 and Raid 1, in Raid 0 which you are running if either of the drives fail you will lose all of your data. In Raid 1 if either drive fails you lose nothing but you sacrifice space and a little speed in doing so.

I'm running the exact same setup but have a 160gb drive and a file server I back up anything critical onto.

yeah I get it, thanks.

I run them in RAID 0 cause I only put windows on there as well as my installed programs. I got 2 other 120 gigs for my data stored.
