RAID 0 migration - ICH7R -> ICH9R

Hello!

As this is my first message at this forum, please excuse me any possible mistakes.

Back to the merit - I'm planning to change my P915 Foxconn motherboard for something more up to date ;-) - possibly Gigabyte P35-DQ6. And here comes the question - as I use two Seagate SATA drives in RAID 0 configuration on Intel ICH7R RAID chipset, is it safe to assume that I don't need any play with HDDs? Or should I prepare for new setup and partition config?
Is there any rule saying which controller or ports the drives should use?

And one more question - I use Thermaltake SonicTower passive cooling for my 3GHz Prescott processor - will it fit on Gigabyte P35-DQ6 and Q6600? Is it enough for quad-core (with cooler of course?)

I'd appreciate your help.

Not sure on the cooler part but you can migrate your RAID without any problems, just remember to turn on RAID mode in your new board's BIOS. I've done if several times now from ICH6R to ICH7R and ICH7R to ICH9R without any problems. Problems start when one wants to transfer their RAID from say an Intel chipset to a 3rd party one. That's when you sadly need to redo the RAID configuration most of the time.

If you get a Q6600 you'll want the SLACR Spec code version as then it's a G0 stepping which uses less power and runs slightly cooler than a B3 version.
