I need some input on the two MB above. Has anyone successfully used the SATA for RAID 0 (2 drives) and used a single IDE drive for RAID 1 (mirroring the 2 SATA drives)? I'm hoping to select one of the two MB for my next rig. The few postings / comments on RAID's didn't cover the above situation. I'm seeing that the initial RAID setup for a new system can be a challenge (for those of us who don't do this all the time). The web sites for the two MB don't clearly state the above. It sounds like they use all IDE drives for the RAID 0+1 configuration.
My plan is to used 2 WD Raptors on the SATA (for RAID 0) and then an 80 G IDE drive to mirror (RAID +1) the RAID 0 Raptors. Any comments and suggestions would be greatly appreciated. I'm almost done selecting the components on my next rig. All that's left is the MB, CPU and video card ( I really want the ATI AIW 9800 Pro...but $400+ is a bit too steep).
