Rage64 not taking its medicine!

I recently setup an NT4 server at work as a Proxy for our leased line, and i'm now doing the finishing polishes. Its video card is an age old Rage64 and its currently running on standard vga drivers. I managed to snag the latest appropriate drivers from the ATI website, and then going to the display control panel and changing the display type, restarting as it asks etc. But on re-entry it hasn't actually changed the drivers!

Any suggestions? 😕

Nice to see someone using old hardware 🙂

Have you tried this method:
1) Aquire new drivers
2) Un-install old drivers / set your graphics card to 'Standard VGA'
3) Reboot
4) Install new drivers
5) Reboot

If that doesnt work, AFAIK ATi keeps a short history of drivers, so try a slightly older driver. Have you made sure the driver is suitable for NT4 and all other things like card type are correct?

Well i just had another hack at it today and its behaving real strange. If i run the detect function it always comes up with the Standard VGA driver.

if i try to add any other driver it copies over the new files i've given it, says its installed, restarts and on return it declares a new driver has been installed - yet its STILL the bog standard vga driver!!

16 colors is doing me noggin in!:frown:
