Okay, so Rage landed face first. Sea of complains about popins, tearing and crashes. Here is a game that doesn't feature either GE or TWIMTBP. Some believed that this game will unleash the true potential of AMD card and how Fermi is going to be suck at OGL comparing to AMD.
So the game hits the market and the very first thing is we realized that AMD's driver that is suppose to benefit Rage does not contain the correct OGL coding, cause artifacts and poor performance.
Nvidia is better, but not without problems. It has some of the OGL coding required for Rage, but not all. In fact, the latest beta driver did not even mention anything about Rage. Tearing, popin, and crashes simply made the game unplayable out of the box. As damage control Nvidia quickly came up with Rage SLI profile, which does nothing but to disable SLI and force vsync off.
Just when all fingers directed to ID/Bethesda for the failure, this is what they have to say:
While some AMD users may claim that all issues are resolved after the 2nd performance driver, things are better, but still problematic. As to Nvidia, there is not a single word. GG for both parties.
There are many obvious questions like:
WTF is AMD doing releasing the first driver for RAGE without the OGL coding needed?
Customer support much Nvidia?
IDTech5 suck, worst than Doom3. How can this be even possible?
What hardware were they using to QA the game, if they even QA the game?
Game devs' fault? GPU vendors' fault?
Discuss.

http://forums.steampowered.com/forums/showthread.php?t=2159339Almost all the issues with RAGE are hardware/driver related and not an issue with the game itself.
Please note the following from Bethesda:
ATI and NVIDIA are working on updated drivers that should be released today/tomorrow that will fix multiple issues.
Bethesda is working on an update to allow for users to customize their video options which will solve many of the issues users are having.

Thank you for your patience with this matter. All parties are working as fast as they can to correct the problems with RAGE.
