Anyhow, if you're curious, I'd say it's worth it; it's only $10 anyway!

You've obviously never played doom 3, it looks better and it's about 10 years older.

I thought the game was fun too, like others said the shooting parts were great. Sure there was a terrible story and the quest system was dumb but it was fun to kill stuff in it and that's what ID shooters are to me.

The problem is the only games id has ever made are all arcade style shooters, they only had half the budget of most AAA games to work with, and to give it the higher resolutions the engine will support would have required multiple bluray disks and the newest radeon 7970 with hardware acceleration for the technology. Doom 4 should be a significant improvement, but it won't be until the next generation consoles come out that we'll be able to see what the engine is really capable of. Rage 2 is definitely on my list of future games to keep an eye on.

Ok, I was pleasantly surprised by this game.

A shooter without a button to attach me to waist high walls or corners? great.

Is it an amazing game? No, but it seems to be worth the $9.17 I paid for it.
