Radioshack universal remote 15-2104 $9.97

Another Radioshack universal remote has been discontinued, this time the 6-in-1 RS 15-2104.

Originally $38, then $20, sometimes $17/13 and now $10 (if you can find one).

Pretty decent all-around remote but best feature is the JP1 connector 😀

IR only. 2-color backlight, tons of buttons, 4 "smart" buttons that can learn and "theater" mode.

Don't forget that some have been successful using the coupon located on the RS counter for remote controls ($5 off).... However, that coupon isn't supposed to start yet, as well as it's supposedly good on regular priced items (not sale or discountinued, although I'm not sure if it specifically states that... I forgot about the coupon myself)

I got one of these about a month ago for $20 and was a great deal at that price. I picked up another last week when I picked up the 2107.

Memory is 2k. For those that don't have the link yet http://groups.yahoo.com/group/jp1/ . You can find the specs of jp1 capable remotes in the files Miscellaneous folder.

I bought one about 4 weeks ago and returned it when I found out that they were $9.97 now; I bought 2 at the lowered price. It's a very nice remote. It can be programmed without JP1, but JP1 is easier and lets you backup the remote. The manual doesn't tell you that you can learn most of the buttons, not just the 4 smart keys and also you can program macros to turn on/off, play, ect. multiple devices. I programmed 1 button to turn on my Receiver, select DVD audio input, change input on TV, Turn on DVD, Play. Another button to shut everything off and go back to TV. Another to Turn on VCR like DVD and to shut it off.

My only complaint is that it can only learn about 25 keys before it runs out of memory.

Call RS and ask them to check which stores have the item 15-2104 so you don't have to go search for it. Not available online.

I passed on the one last week, but for $9.97 this was too good to pass up.....I like that one of the buttons actually says "THEATER"

Mine didn't come with a box but the guys at the store d/l the manual on-line for me....50pages .... jp-1 is more than nerdy enough for me

to give it a try

nice find

No remote out there can control the XBOX playback kit if your wanting to use it to turn it on and off.

JP1 should allow you to make more efficient use of the memory and allow you to learn more functions. You can basically create a new program code for all of the learned functions and then assign that code to the remote, effectively freeing the memory you used to learn the keys in the first place.

Are you telling us that the Microsoft/JBL TC1000 can't turn the Xbox on and off?

This deal is only B&M (as usual, discontinued items are removed from radioshack.com).

I've tried to use the coupon twice and been shot-down twice a) cause it's a "clearance" price and b) the coupon is only valid during Nov 2003.

Finallly, I love this remote and there's a JP1 "extender" for it which basically let's you do anything you want with it (programming wise) though it is technical.

Wish I could find another one!

They're around; I found one not near me. Some of the RS crew could certainly use some manners: "hey babe, we're a busy retail establishment and we sell everythng we get in here!"

Some of those guys are so full of it. I guess they forgot all those miscellaneous electronic parts and books with yellowed packaging that look like they've been sitting in the store since 1979. 😀

I found one today. By the way, you can go to any Radio Shack and have them check other stores in town for this. Just make sure to have them actually phone the other store to confirm. Their online inventory is not updated real often.

I've never known a RS employee who could tell his ass from a stereo y-splitter cable.
Been there dozens of times and they can barely speak english much less figure out what all those electric components are there for.
All they know is to make sure they ask you to buy batteries a few dozen times while they check you out.

hey would i be able to program my Panasonic ReplayTV using this remote??

it would be sweet if i could do that.

Thanks
