Copy of the first month's Comcast bill is also required.

My roommate and I did this deal last August. I wouldn't worry about the 60 day submission requirement. You should have no trouble getting your bill before then.

BTW, the modem has worked flawlessly for us so far. Can't really judge versus other cable modems, but we've got ours connected to a NETGEAR RT314 router and experience zero problems.
 
This might be just the perfect deal. I am moving over the June 1st weekend and I am hooking up Comcast Cable in the new house. Buying this modem saves me $3 every month.
 
I think Circuit City has had on onging deal with Comcast for a "Free" after rebate and activiation modem too. The modem is a Motorola Surfboard.

Their may be other retailers doing the same thing. Shop around for the store that sells the hardware you want.
