radio station question

Several times now I have heard the local radio station playing stuff by Joe Satriani and Dream Theater and a few other bands during their weather or traffic reports. They don't play this music in the regular programming so whats the deal?

What exactly kind of music does Dream Theatre play? I've been honking to pick up an album, but I'm not sure what to expect...

It's the lack of vocals that they want.
Vocals + announcer = bad

its called progressive rock. just go to one of the many sites out there (amazon, napster, etc) and listen to samples.
