Tested this unit in-store. VERY CHEAPLY made. You cannot move the unit (hold it) without the DVD scraping on the inner mechanism, ruining the DVD.

If you accept these limitations, don't mind making $5 (if you get the rebate(s)) and can actually find one go for it.

I bought two about half an hour ago and the RS sales dude actually printed the rebate from the website for me. Hope it actually works or I'll be returning these.

Good luck returning it after you remove the UPCs, especially a couple of months down the road when you finally find out they rejected your second rebate.

Frankly, if the unit is as bad as what dud observed, why bother with it at all?

In store, store mananger called, it won't work. Also, terms and conditions, "RadioShack reserves the right to review and approve all subbmissions and modify or witdraw this offer at any time for any reason."

I work at radioshack and i can save you the trouble. Return it if your thinking you are going to get both rebates. Are district manager told us to honor it, but then called later and said that he was mistaken and that the other rebate won't be honored.

I think you're full of cr0p. What is there for a STORE to honor? You don't issue the rebates do you?

1. The system prints out the $65 rebate upon checkout.
2. The $75 rebate is printed off the webpage.
3. You mail them in.

The STORE doesn't do anything. If we're gonna get hosed it's gonna be from corporate and we won't know for three or four months. I called three times and was told the same thing from three different reps. The main office goofed. If you were lucky enough to print the rebate while it was there it's going to be honored...by CORPORATE. Can we get burned...sure. Worth the risk for me.

P.S... Nice grammar.

My friend came over and he got one, he believed both rebates will be good. While he's filling out $65 rebate form, he noticed "This offer supersedes any other rebate...". He's glad the UPC code was not cut yet. Not sure you can get both rebates; however, $70 is still good for a portable dvd/mp3 player.

The quaility of this player is bad and not worth $70. But for free I can't complain. If you want to use it yourself you'd better buy the warranty from RS.

I personally don't think it's worth the $70... especially when I bought five :(

We'll see if the gamble pays off. It's like going to Vegas without the girls...or booze...or fun.

Maybe we can send 1 rebate to your trusted friend and 1 rebate to your home?

What do you all think?

I believe RadioShack tracks order (transation) number; one number, two persons? It can't work.

I just received the after-Christmas RS flyer in my local newspaper and this DVD player is listed at $69.99 ($99.99 - $30 MI rebate).

I would personally avoid this deal for the following reasons:

Crappy DVD player (that may ruin your DVDs) + Unsure of purchase price because of questionable rebates = not a good deal, time to move on

Well, if you have children (or are bored at the airport or planetrip); just copy some DVD+R or DVD+R/W for them to use in the car or around the house (i.e., a cheaper PSP-ish movie player). I can't see the harm. I'd backup my original DVD's just for the purpose of a road trip anyway.

However, my local RS had this unit for $129 before rebate, so I didn't buy.

Since I have 5 outstanding DVD player rebates myself I decided to take matters into my own hands and create a web site and discussion forum dedicated to just this single rebate debacle.

www.radioshackrebatefraud.com

and for continued discussion:

http://www.radioshackrebatefraud.com/forum/

This is a simple blog site that will have headline information plus an extensive forum to help figure out how to proceed either on an individual or group basis.

See you on the new forums(s).
