Radio sets from "Tears of the Sun"?

has anyone ever seen the kind of radio set that they use in "Tears of the Sun" in real life? Do they even work? Just looked around for a bit on google with no luck.

Sure they work.

Never seen them in real life, but I've seen them in many war movies.

Throat mics were used as far back as WWII. They keep out the background noice so the communication is much cleaner. A big must in the old, very noisy WWII bombers and fighters.
