Hi, sorry to bother again, I installed XP pro and all of a sudden my wireless radio button wont work, I doubt its cos the actual button is broke, but more its been disabled, it switches my wireless card on so i can look for networks etc. Iv tried device manager and what not and Im stuck, its an acer 5020 laptop. Iv had to use a netgear PCMA whatever card to hook up to the lan in our house, but that keeps going on and off when I try downloading anything ever so slight big.

Cheers guys and sorry for the hassle

when you installed xp pro, was it a format or an upgrade? did you install all the acer model specific chipset drivers and accessories?

Normally you can enable or disable the windows wireless zero configuration without pressing the physical switch on laptop, although you believe actual button seems malfunctioning!

You should be able to get the wireless radio buttton working with the proper drivers installed from Acer.

I did a clean install of Windows XP on my Acer 3003WLCi a few weeks ago and none of the special function keys worked properly until I installed all of the drivers and utilities from Acer's site.

It is possible your wireless switch connection is malfunctioning and mechicially impaired.

Erm, that's highly unlikely. As Fardringle pointed out many "speciality" buttons require manufacturer drivers in order to work properly.
