Radiation from cpu's

As time goes by cpu's get faster and stronger, is there any effect on the amount of radiation coming out of this chips? what is the amount of radiation comming out of them anyway, and is it any danger?

Like CRT's, if there was any danger then they would be recalled and redisgned.

AFAIK... CPU's do not currently emit radiation and I dont see them doing so any time soon.

I think the X2's are emiting enough Gamma Radiation to turn you gaming arms into Incredible Hulk style arms, this is a selling feature for AMD as it means it imporves your Frag ability in first shooters .. everyone go buy X2's WOOOOOHOOOO ....

Note: Be careful when pressing keys on the keyboard your index finger has a tendancy to push the buttons through the keyboard and even through the desk .. beware :shocked:

I guess there is a small amount of electromagnetic radiation emitted by any device that features an alternating current. The question is what is its frequency (Hz) and how powerful is it? X-rays are at the lower end of the dangerous radiation and they have a frequency starting at 30,000,000 GHz which is waaaaayy above what cpu's are doing. Below that, the only emissions of interest would be the microwave ones at around 2.4GHz - i.e. the ones that heat water. Emissions from a cpu would be so low as to cause no perceivable rise in temperature.

BTW I don't really know what I'm talking about so I'm sure some know-all will correct me.

similar question were asked about cell phones... and now we laugh at their insolence. ha ha hahahah

until CPUs are made with a volitile substances that break down (highly unlikely because we'd kill AMD and Intel if our chips dissappeared one day cause of their half lifes), no.
 
it cant be more dangerous than cell phones, especially the old ones. or microwaves, or radio, or wireless connections.
 

The core of a CPU is buried under a metal lid, and then also under a large metal heatsink. Whatever electromagnetic radiation is being produced will be contained by all that metal. Note I specified "electromagnetic" radiation, because there is zero nuclear radiation involved.

Well, there's heat radiation....if you were to touch a cpu, you'd likely burn off your skin. It could also raise the room temperature and kill your sperm.

Gasp! A reason not to buy AMD, all their cpus run at around 2.4ghz!(does the frequency of the wave really correspond to the frequency of the chip like that?)

To the best of my knoweldge, you don't operate a CPU next to your head, 2" away from your brain.

The big worry of cell phones was that they receive microwaves in an antenna right next to your brain.

With CPU's, you have a less than 1cm X 1cm area of transistors switching on and off in the ~3 Ghz range - still microwaves, but it's not actively transmitting them or broadcasting them like cell phone radiation in the air, being received by an antenna right next to your skull.
