RadeonSDR v. Geforce2 MX: which do I get?

hello my integrated video is excrutiating and I can fit an agp card.
the radeon I can get for 25% extra than the mx- so, which is better to go for? I use win2k right now but I have used ME before, I could go back to it. both the cards I am looking at are tvout models.
I want... to watch dvds on my tv...and to play some simulators at a nice frame rate without horrid jagged lines all over the place.

I would take the Radeon over the MX except it's win2k drivers kind of suck, not that the win98 ones are all that either though. But if you were to get a Radeon, I'd get a Radeon 32DDR. It is only $20 or so more than the SDR and is a lot better.

sorry, can't get that ddr with tvout and anyway the price difference is twice that

I think drivers may be the deciding factor here ,for Win2000 Nvidia have the better drivers, so I would go with the MX here.

it's not as if I am attached to win2k like a siamese twin.
I have used it before but the modem on my integrated box did not work with ME. I tried win2k and it works. as it is, I am using 60mb with win2k, so maybe ME is better anyway...

how much of a handicap is sdr on the card- what kind of performance loss do you get from that?

Why don't you check out Anand's Budget Vid card comparison. They compare a V4, Radeon SDR, and Geforce 2 MX. They pick the Geforce 2 MX as the budget card of choice. Here is an excerpt from the conclusion.

So, with some consideration, we can pick a GeForce2 MX based card as the budget card of choice. Not only does the card shine in T&L intensive games, but it also has strong performance in all the benchmarks. In addition, many GeForce2 MX cards are currently on the market for around $100 or even a bit less. And for a bit more money you can get an MX based card with both a heatsink and a fan, making overclocking a cinch. Dual VGA TwinView ready GeForce2 MX based cards are still rather hard to find and may end up costing up to $150, but for many users in a business type environment it may be worth it.

Get the 32 MB Radeon DDR, it doesn't cost that much, I think on Hot Deals there's a deal for the DDR for $115.
