Radeon's HierarchierZ settings do anything?

does it take effect in any current games or applications? what is the purpose of it anyway? because it is disabled unless you change the settings in registry.

After reading the Anand review on Radeon, he covered this issue also, it showed that disabling some of these do decrease performance, i guess the other hyperZ settings are enabled.

I haven't really read up on it lately, but I think it does help. The way I understand it is that HyperZ only renders visible images instead of everything so this helps alleviate some of the memory bandwidth problem prevalent in today's cards. I'm not sure if it needs direct game support through DX or if it just works on everything like 3dfx's FSAA implementation. I didn't realize it was disabled by default, what drivers are you using and what reg hacks did you use to enable it? I'll have to check my system when I get home.
