OK in the past when I powered up my PC a quick screen showing the model of my video card would appear, then the PC goes to memory test, bios, and finally windows will boot.

Now that I am running a Radeon 9500pro I've noticed there is not quick card ID screen. When I first boot up I just get a black screen for a few seconds. Is this normal with a 9500p ?

I don't get one on my 9700. used to get it on the earlier GF2.
IIRC the ID is in the card's BIOS (I remember a utility to change it. "harabecw's l337 vid card!" on boot would be nice).
perhaps they don't have anything for it.

It just seems odd there is no quick video ID at boot. Every other video card I've owned showed some kind of ID.

I just email ATI tech support, I'm curious to what they say.
